A creative life also needs rooms in which to unfold. The Hotel des Artistes brings Russell's story into the streets of New York and the practical work of artists' cooperative housing. He helped develop the building, constructed in 1915–1918 with George Mort Pollard as architect. Here, an idea takes the form of a place to live and work.
