Imagine Twain's characters gathering around their creator within a monumental setting. Russell gave that ambition a complete sketch model for a memorial commissioned for the author's 1935 centennial. The full-size monument was never completed. This view preserves the larger proposal, letting us enter a work whose imagined scale exceeded its realized form.
