Thomas Alva Edison — portrait bust

Edison returns in another form. Russell also painted his portrait; here, the same subject takes on sculptural volume. The likeness moves into space, where light can describe its contours. Together, the works offer two approaches to one person, each shaped by the possibilities of its medium.
