Polarization and fusion foci

Curves approach, overlap, and gather around shared points. In this 1959 drawing, Russell gives polarization and fusion foci a geometry of colored lenses and intersecting axes. A line arriving from one direction meets a line from another. Their meeting becomes the visible center of an idea he is working to explain.
